27 / 06 / 2019
Category: Programme News

On 25th June 2019, the Annual Programme Conference was held in Hrodna, Belarus. As in previous years, the event was an excellent opportunity to meet for the beneficiaries, representatives of the Programme institutions from Poland, Belarus and Ukraine and those who supports a cross-border cooperation. This year event was organized under the slogan: Checkpoint HEALTH – In pursuit of cross-border well-being.

The representatives of the Managing Authority and Joint Technical Secretariat presented the Programme actual state of play and the progress in its implementation. During this part of the Conference a grant contract for the implementation of the micro-project "Cross-border heritage of the Białowieża Forest" was signed. This is the first grant contract signed for projects selected in the 2nd Call for Proposals.

As the main emphasis of the Conference was put on health and health prevention, we invited representatives of the medical projects financed within the Programme, to participate in discussion panels. They shared the experiences related to the implementation of the joint projects (Panel 1) and the prospects for cooperation in the field of health care improvement for residents of the borderland (Panel 2). The Conference was also accompanied by the "Medical Town", in which residents of Hrodna and surroundings numerously benefited from free consultations and examinations carried out by doctors of the Hrodna City Clinical Hospital - beneficiary of the Programme. Almost 600 medical consultations were carried out, 300 blood tests, 67 fluorographic examinations and 62 electrocardiograms were performed. We would like to thank the Hospital management for participating in our annual event, and the Hospital staff for dedication and engagement in the health promotion among the residents of the Hrodna region.

As part of the consultations for the new edition Programme, we organized the "Medical Round Table", in which represtentatives of the medical projects and institutions took part. Gathered opinions on possibilities of cross-border cooperation for health improvement and protection will be taken under consideration while preparing the Programme 2021-2027.

In the spirit of promoting a healthy lifestyle, the participants of the Conference checked their physical condition during cycling and kayaking activities. The Conference ended with an open to the public concert of the Belarusian band Uzari.

"For us, the project is a window on the word, we come together and exchange experiences. We learn a lot from our friends from Ukraine, we learn from each other and that is the greatest value", the words of Paweł Natkowski, the Director of the dr Józef Psarski Mazovian Specialist Hospital in Ostrołęka - the beneficiary of the project and one of the Conference panelists, perfectly reflects the values and goals that Programme stands for.

We would like to thank all participants of the Conference for their active participation, exchange of the opinions and experiences.
