The project is aimed at solving cross-border problems: damping criminal activity in sphere of illegal migration, smuggling and human trafficking at the Belarusian-Polish border. Customs institutions in the project successfully use specially trained sniffer dogs. Further cooperation of cynological services will lead to effective use of sniffer dogs, developing methods of training and to increasing the overall safety of population on the Programme area. Equipment of dog handlers with specialized vehicles (10 vehicles) and experience exchange trainings (2 trainings) will increase technical and personnel capacity of officials at the Polish-Belarusian border. Special vehicles will allow fast transportation of dog handlers with sniffer dogs to places of inspection where there is an urgent need for them. The vehicles will also allow dog handlers and sniffer dogs to perform educational work aimed at fighting spread of drugs among the young population of the region. Intensity of goods movement between the EU and Belarus requires increase of customs procedures effectiveness by faster and safer border crossing. Customs control with use of sniffer dogs will reduce time for passengers and goods spent on customs clearance.
