The Ukrainian-Polish mountainous border area is a region of significant natural and cultural potential. The richness of the cultural heritage and ethnic and ethnographic groups, still living there, is shown by the old wooden buildings. The WoodenArch project will be carried out in the Lviv, Transcarpathian, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblasts, and Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The partners will try to solve the problem of the lack of promotion of the common historical and cultural heritage and lack of complex cross-border tourist products in this area.
The implementation of the WoodenArch will lead to the creation of a common cross-border route and its promotion, as well as increasing awareness of the local population concerning the management of cultural heritage in Poland and Ukraine. Project partners will conduct the inventory of wooden architecture objects, study the best practices of wooden architecture route creation and finally create the Carpathian Wooden Architecture Route followed by the promotional campaigns raising public awareness. Creation and promotion of the Carpathian Wooden Architecture Route will bring together local leaders, religious communities, tourism industry, regional media, representatives of local and regional governments from 4 border regions in order to implement joint actions concerning the preservation and promotion of the historical and cultural heritage. Representing different sectors - communities, local and regional authorities, and non-governmental organizations will be engaged in the promotion.
The project results will have a long-lasting impact on the residents, authorities, and visitors of the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattya Oblasts, and the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. Moreover, the created tourist route will be used by the tourists after the project implementation and can become a precondition for the future development of tourist infrastructure in the Carpathian regions of the Ukrainian-Polish borderland.
