BENEFICIARY
Due to the escalation of the military aggression of the Russian Federation, blocked seaports, closed airspace and destroyed transport infrastructure, Ukrainian railways was forced to reorient cargo and passenger traffic to the western railway border crossing points. RailConnect4UA project addressed the above-mentioned challenges by improving transportation and logistical capacity on the Ukrainian-Polish border.
Within the project the construction of the 1.0 km of railway track to the new cargo terminal at Kovel station has been completed.
It was an important step towards adaptation of Ukrainian railway infrastructure to EU standards and further development of EU-Ukraine connectivity. Ultimately, it will have a positive impact on the mobility of people and transportation of goods.
