On 19th January we took part in the ceremonial opening of two new roundabouts in Biała Podlaska built with the Programme co-financing. The works were carried out as part of the project ‘Improvement the transport accessibility in Brest and Biała Podlaska’ (acronym OurBetterStreet).
During the implementation of the project, the city of Biała Podlaska has renovated two crossroads on motorway No. 2, by building two roundabouts and eight additional traffic lines. Additionally, a road structure with drainage system, new pavements, road lighting and signs were provided on the Polish side.
The Belarusian partner, the Road Maintenance Company in Brest, reconstructed seven crossroads in Brest, installing an adaptive traffic control system. Subsequently, an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) was created that reduces travel time by regulating the traffic mode. Project partners jointly conducted also an awareness campaign about the need for friendly transport and the importance of safe and responsible road behaviour.
