Ukrainian local government officials took part in a study-visit to Poland organized by the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2014-2020 in cooperation with the Lviv Regional Council and the “Euroregion Carpathians – Ukraine”. During a week's stay, they become acquainted with the rules of applying for EU funds for local development. It was also an opportunity to establish new partner contacts for the implementation of future projects.
The opening meeting was organized at the Marshal Office of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. On behalf of the Programme, the head of the Joint Technical Secretariat Paweł Słowikowski led the meeting:
- I wish you, that the study-visit will be an opportunity to establish contacts with Polish self-governments, which will result in cooperation - he emphasized welcoming guests from Ukraine.
The voivodeship and self-government authorities at all levels who took part in the meeting were represented by Deputy Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, Bogdan Romaniuk.
- Our province has the longest border with the Ukrainian neighbor. Therefore, cooperation with partners from Ukraine is an important element for our region - he underlined.
The study tour also included a visit to the AEROPOLIS science and technology park, meeting with the authorities of Rzeszów, visiting investments implemented with the support of EU funds in the capital as well as the western part of the region - in the Commune of Dębica. Then the participants went to Kraków, where they had the opportunity to learn about the activities of the Małopolskie Voivodeship self-government and one of the public hospitals, as well as to meet the Ukrainian Consul General in Krakow. Finally, they took part in the 4th European Congress of Local Governments, where the official closure of the study-visit was made by the chairman of the Lviv Regional Council Oleksandr Hanuszczyn.
