On 9th May in Węgrów, Deputy Minister of Investment and Economic Development Adam Hamryszczak signed another grant contract under the thematic objective Heritage. In the ceremony were attended: Deputy Speaker of the Senate Mrs. Maria Koc, Fr. Archbishop Metropolitan of Lviv Mieczysław Mokrzycki, Fr. Bishop Tadeusz Pikus - Ordinary of the Drohiczyn Diocese, Voivode of Masovia, Mr. Zdzisław Sipiera, and also prof. Magdalena Gawin - Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
Projekt „TwinMonasteries: Węgrow and Rawa Ruska – Using the Potential of the Heritage of Reformati Order for Development of Tourism and Socio-Cultural Life in Poland and Ukraine” will be implemented by Roman Catholic Parish Church of St. Peter of Alcantara and St. Anthony of Padua in Wegrow and Religious Organization „Curia of Lviv Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church”.
It will consist in the tourist development of the cross-border areas of Poland and Ukraine through the revitalization, conservation and equip of two historic twin former Reformation monasteries from the beginning of the 17th century in Węgrów and Rawa Ruska, creation of Center for Dialogue in Węgrów, the Family Orphange in Rawa Ruska and the Former Reformation Order’s Monasteries Route both sides of the border.
As a result of the implementation of the project, which lasts 24 months, the number of tourists in the border areas will increase and infrastructure for social, cultural and educational activities aimed at promoting the culture and traditions of both countries will be created.
