On the occasion of the European Cooperation Day (ECDay) which is celebrated in September 2018, the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2014-2020 organized the international open air painting event in Zamość. 15 artists from these three countries took part in the event: 4 from Eastern Poland, 6 from Belarus and 5 from Ukraine. The theme of the open air painting event was the architecture of Zamość, called the "Pearl of the Renaissance", which is a part of the cultural heritage of the borderland. The works were made in the dry pastel technique. Reproductions of these works will be published in the Programme calendar for 2019.
Artists participating in the event had an opportunity to visit and paint the town placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, as well as to exchange experiences and establish contacts for future joint cultural projects.
Thanks to the hospitality of the Zamojskie Museum, the vernissage of the artists' works took place in the Sculpture Gallery of Marian Konieczny. The ceremony was combined with special concert of borderland songs.
The events in Zamość were only one part of the EC Day celebration events. The Programme will also organize other events in Ukraine and Belarus.
