Project description

In the Lubelskie Voivodeship and the Lviv Oblast, the cultures of Polish and Ukrainian nations are influencing each other for a long time. Some of their elements are common and some are different, however, the awareness of the community about the common cultural and ethnic origin is low. Commune of Księżpol with Communal Cultural Center in Księżpol (Lubelskie Voivodeship, Poland) and Chervonogradskiy Narodniy Dim (Lvivska Oblast, Ukraine) realized that there are no sufficient instruments to establish cross-border cooperation in areas of cultural life and the protection of the historical heritage. What is more, the lack of cross-border cultural exchange makes it impossible to establish good neighbourly relations.

The K&K:PolUA project is offering the instruments which will enable the cultural exchange between Księżpol and Chervonograd. The common workshops on culinary and artistic traditions, as well as photographic workshops documenting the cultural and historical heritage, will be organized in these cities. These events will allow residents of both regions to get acquainted with the common heritage. The artistic group whose repertoire will be based mainly on traditional folk music will be also established. The group will develop its repertoire as part of artistic workshops. Moreover, thanks to the construction of the amphitheatre in Chervonograd and purchasing the sound equipment for the concert hall in Księżpol, the organization of many other cultural events will be possible.

The project will engage a wide group of residents in both cross-border areas, i.e. people associated with cultural and artistic activities, people involved in the protection of historical heritage, and the youth who will be the direct beneficiaries of the project. The implementation of the project will allow society to become acquainted with the cultural and historical heritage of its neighbours from the other country and discover the similarity of both cultures. Moreover, the activities initiated in the project will be continued in the years following the end of the project.
