Project description

The church in Synkovichi is one of the pearls of Belarusian architecture, and the monastery in Supraśl, which is unique in Poland, houses many collections of sacred art. The treasures of musical culture have been recreated and collected for years by specialists working at the University of Lviv. However, local communities still do not have sufficient knowledge about these musical works. Therefore, knowledge of sacred art should be developed both in a theoretical and practical context. The SupSyn project will significantly contribute to the protection and increasing the availability of the cultural heritage of the Polish-Belarusian-Ukrainian borderland.

The joint efforts of three partners will make it possible to conduct a musical and philological study of the Supraski canticles manuscript, publish their scores in four languages (Polish, Belarusian, English and Ukrainian), and reconstruct the resulting scores. Thanks to these efforts, and with the help of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic Choir, a special album will be created. Later, both choirs – the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic Choir and choir from Synkovichi will take part in concerts in Supraśl and Synkovichi. In addition, the Belarusian partner will conduct open-air workshops to convey a common history and culture through sculpture. Accompanied by the Polish partner, they will also organize an open-air painting, including icon painting, which is an important point in the cultural heritage of Polish-Belarusian-Ukrainian regions.

The implemented activities and created products will allow a wider audience (residence, tourists) to discover new, previously unknown aspects of the regional cultural heritage. Moreover, taking into account the fact that today’s tourism development is inseparably linked with the promotion of local history and culture, the results achieved will become the basis for an attractive and positive image of partners’ areas.
