Project description

The border area of Polissya located in Poland and Ukraine is characterized by rich folklore traditions. The EthnicHeritage project aims to solve common problems, such as insufficient promotion and interest in the cultural heritage of the Ukrainian and Polish population living in this region.

The EthnicHeritage project will increase the attractiveness of the cultural heritage of the Ukrainian-Polish borderland by carrying out research and promotion of folklore traditions, their reproduction and passing on to future generations to demonstrate the positive influence of folk melodies (“folk-melos”) on the human emotional state. The project will intensify the study of common motives of Ukrainian-Polish folklore and the influence of music on people. Moreover, it will increase the children’s and youth’s interest in studying and reproducing folklore through innovative teaching methods and improve the visibility of folk music in society. The main results will be: a printed and electronic album of the collected folklore heritage, marked tourist routes in Wola Uhruska Commune (Poland), an electronic and printed tourist map of the folklore heritage routes, a summer art ethnic school, a cross-border festival "Ethno-culture - a force that unites", two Facebook pages of the project, two promotional videos, audio recordings of collected melodies. Additionally, the project will create a platform for dialogue and exchange of partners’ experiences.

The inhabitants of the Polissya cross-border area, tourists, cultural institutions, schools, institutions engaged in folklore research and the local authorities will benefit from the EthnicHeritage project. It will be a spark for further promotional activities that will enhance the image and attractiveness of the Polissya area.
