Project description

Belarus, especially the Hrodna region, has a great cultural heritage potential and a rich, still living folk culture. The situation is similar in Poland, where new tourist services are being developed. Unfortunately, the potential of these regions is not adequately used to build an attractive tourist offer. The Save4Future project aims to increase the tourist attractiveness of both the Suwałki and Hrodna regions. At the same time, there is a need to raise awareness and convince the inhabitants and tourists to value this great and underestimated cultural and natural heritage and to preserve it for future generations.

The Save4Future project will protect and promote cultural and natural heritage of the cross-border area of Suwałki and Hrodna and will create new tourist products to attract more visitors. The main result of the project will be improved heritage sites: Wigry National Park, in particular the “Forest"  educational path showing the natural heritage of the Park and the old cemetery in Hrodna. Additionally, an online catalogue of graves and a guidebook will be published online. Tourist trails running through the cemetery will be developed and a series of events planned as a part of the project.  All these activities will help to preserve this valuable cultural heritage sites and make it a tourist product. The idea is to reach people in an innovative way, through cultural and artistic events, such as theatrical performances, art plein-airs, exhibitions, a festival with workshops, concerts and storytelling. The events will be organized on both sides of the border and will engage participants from both partner countries. Organizing the educational activities, like seminars and study visits, for people managing cultural heritage will be an opportunity to exchange ideas.

The effects of the Save4Future project will be directed to the inhabitants of Suwałki and Hrodna regions, tourists visiting these areas and people managing cultural heritage in both countries. In addition, the project will result in the increased awareness of the local population about the history as well as the natural heritage of the place they live in.
