Project description

The Polish and Ukrainian borderland is a place where two nationalities coexist sharing cultural customs as well as cultivating their own ways of living. Over the years common customs have been cultivated less and less frequently and are now almost forgotten. The MuZa project team would like to show this common culture, revive it and give it a contemporary dimension.

The starting point will be searching for the folklore and musical heritage and selecting a diverse but coherent set of songs that can be attractive to the audience. For this purpose, the Beneficiaries will choose two folk music bands,  which for years have dedicated their activities to the borderland culture, to be involved in the selection of the joint repertoire. Musicians will participate in a cycle of individual rehearsals as well as joint workshops while they will also prepare a common song. This composition together with 12 traditional Polish and Ukrainian songs will be included in the CD album, which will be published and extensively promoted. The project will culminate with 6 joint concerts in Poland and Ukraine. The concerts and the publication of the CD will be supported by an extensive promotion.

The project will reveal the beauty of the rich musical heritage and attract a wide range of folk music fans. The concerts will allow the residents of the Polish-Ukrainian borderland to learn and accept the multicultural character of their tradition in a “little homeland”. Bonds and relationships established due to the project will lay the groundwork for further cooperation between these two countries.
