The towns of Ščorsy in Belarus and Pruszyn in Poland are locally significant historical sites that have been important cultural centres for a long time. Currently, they have a common problem, which is insufficient tourist promotion. Therefore, the preservation of the culinary and historical heritage, as well as enhancing tourism development by organizing joint cultural events in Pruszyn and Ščorsy, is the main goal of the project partners.
The OnePot project will support the promotion and preservation of historical heritage by renovating two old buildings – the roof of the smokehouse in the former Khreptovichi family estate in Ščorsy and the facade of the oldest school in Pruszyn. Additionally, joint events will be organized to breathe new life into these places, such as culinary festivals that will take place in Poland and Belarus. International culinary workshops are aimed at strengthening relations between people from both countries, enabling them to discover local, historic recipes and exchange experiences. In addition, there a publication with local recipes that represent the legacy of both cultures will be prepared. It will also contain the most important historical data of both towns. As a part of the project, a new tourist route will also be created in the geocaching application with descriptions in English, Polish, Belarusian and Russian. The route will consist of 10 stops in different locations, where geocaching caches will be built and hidden.
Residents and the local community will benefit from project implementation. The Farmers’ Wives Association from the city of Siedlce will share with Belarusians their age-old recipes to activate mutual exchange and create their own local “homeland”. The OnePot project aims to stimulate cross-border development with a focus on local tourism and history.
