Medicine is one of the most important fields of science, the development of which we often fail to notice. Unfortunately, along with the dynamic progress, the history of medicine is less and less known, especially among the youngest generation. Many technical innovations may go unnoticed due to the quick technological changes ongoing in Poland and Belarus. This is why it is so important to commemorate medical knowledge.
The aim of the MedicineHistory project is to improve the access and promotion of the historical heritage of Minsk and Siedlce in the field of medicine. The project aims to share knowledge and raise awareness of the history of medicine among the inhabitants of the Polish-Belarusian borderland. The Mazowieckie Voivodeship Hospital in Siedlce and Minsk Regional Clinical Maternity House will create memorial chambers in their premises, they will purchase exhibition equipment, conduct historical lectures and organize interesting cultural events, such as historical reconstruction (carried out in Siedlce) and exhibitions (in Minsk and Siedlce). This will give residents the opportunity to visualize how difficult it was for their ancestors to perform the medical profession and how dynamically medicine developed only in the last century. The memorial chambers with exhibition and conference equipment will permanently promote the local history of medicine.
The project will have a positive impact on the knowledge of residents about the local medical practices in the Polish-Belarusian border, in particular in the area of Minsk and Siedlce. The project Beneficiaries will also contribute to the general promotion of the history of medicine by organising lectures and historical meetings and by preparing publications on the subject.
