On 25-27th June 2019 the Local Development Forum took place in Truskavets, Ukraine. This year it hosted about 400 attendees including the representatives of local self-governments, regional and national authorities. Our Programme was also represented – PBU stand was open for visitors during all three days of the Forum. Lviv BO and JTS provided information to all interested visitors and distributed promotional materials. The guests were also able to contribute to assessment of the Programme achievements and formation of the new Programme priorities by filling out electronic questionnaire.
In addition to this, PBU organized one of the panel discussions entitled “Cross-border cooperation as an instrument of improving security on Polish-Ukrainian borderland”. The speakers were Leszek Buller, the Director of the Center of European Projects (in which JTS is located); Rafał Baliński, Director of Department of Territorial Cooperation at the Ministry of Investment and Economic Development of Poland; Janina Ewa Orzełowska, the Member of the Management Board of Mazowieckie voivodeship; Oleksandr Hanushchyn, the Chairman of Lviv Oblast Council; Liubov Ziniuk, the Head of the Project Management Department in Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University and Oleksandr Bilak, the Vice Mayor of Uzhgorod. The discussion was related to security in a broad sense, including healthcare, emergency situations, crime etc. and based on the responses to the questionnaire by Forum attendees. In particular, the role of cross-border projects in increasing the security in cross-border regions of the two countries was considered.
JTS presented also Programme contribution and possible support for Carpathian related projects during other Forum panel “Instruments of financing development projects of the Carpathians”.
