Project of the week - DOPC

02 / 09 / 2019
Category: Project News

The project “Development of partnership cooperation for improvement of road infrastructure located in the borderland of the Podlaskie Voivodship and the Grodno District” (acronym DOPC) is implemented within the Thematic Objective ACCESSIBILITY. The Lead Beneficiary of the project is the Podlaskie Voivodship Roads Authority in Białystok (PL). Together with Belarusian partner: The Municipal Unitary Enterprise Design, Repair & Construction “Grodnoobldorstroj” in Hrodna, they face the problem of insufficient accessibility of Hrodna Oblast which limits its development opportunities. Their objective is to reconstruct the local road No. 6054 to improve the transport capacity, as well as the movement of people and goods across the border, especially in terms of the reactivation of the border crossing Lipszczany - Sofijewo. The DOPC project will make the borderland of Poland and Belarus more accessible, safer and less polluted which will ultimately improve the living conditions of residents.

More about the project you can read in the enclosed pdf file.

The implementation of the DOPC project began on 1st December 2018. Following the tender procedures, the Belarusian partner signed the contract for the construction works of the regional road No. 6054 which contents two rural areas: the Ratichi village and the Sapockin village. The total length of the reconstructed road is 5.8 km on a site from 20,408 km to 26,179 km which is a section that belongs to the № Н-6054 Hrodna - Sapockin highway. The following project activities were carried out: alignment of a layer of asphalt 5.8 km long, construction of a bicycle path, construction of 7 culverts and 4 bus stops. At this stage, the improvement of the road is finished at 95%. Additionally, as a part of the project, the machinery for road maintenance was purchased, in particular: tractor with mower, machine for shoulder profiling, dump truck, snow plough with salt and sand spread. Project partners also organized conferences promoting and explaining the assumptions of the project.

According to the grant contract, the project should be completed by 29th February 2020.
