Representatives of the Joint Technical Secretariat took part in the 5th European Congress of Local Governments which was held on 8-9th April 2019 in Kraków.
The European Congress of Local Governments is a meeting place for local government leaders, representatives of state administration, science and business. "Local government - together for the future" was the slogan of this year's edition. During the two-day event, guests from Poland and abroad discussed the role of cross-border and international cooperation, local initiatives and building a common future.
As local governments are one of the main groups of recipients of the Programme funds, the JTS strives to take part in events addressed to them. Thus, in lasy years, we have been actively participating in the Congress in Krakow for several years. This year, Leszek Buller, Director of the Center of European Projects, in which the JTS is located, took part in the panel "How to create local and regional identity?". During the discussion, he explained, basing on the examples of the Programme's projects, what the identity phenomenon is all about, how we can understand it and what is the difference between local and regional identity. We also took part in the panel "How to develop tourism in historic cities?". Moreover, as in previous years, we organized the information stand of the Programme, where participants of the Congress could get to know the Programme better.
