Project description

The border between Poland and Ukraine has varied in length and shape over the centuries, which made this area full of national and cultural influences. Numerous manors and palaces, Catholic, Orthodox, Uniate, Jewish and Evangelical temples and cemeteries, as well as other valuable historical monuments, remind us of the former multiculturalism of the borderland. Unfortunately, few domestic and foreign visitors are aware of the existence of these fantastic stamps of local historical heritage and choose other vacation destinations.

The TogetherNow project will change the poor image of the region by focusing on promoting and informing about the cultural and historical heritage among local communities and tourists of the Łęczycki Poviat in Poland and Mykolaiv Region in Ukraine. To make it possible, both partners will organize open events (Days of Culture) and various publications on this matter. Within the project, tourist routes with signage and bicycle paths will be created. In addition, many e-attractions will be developed, such as virtual walk, GPS tracking of tourist routes, a mobile guide with a description of the most important monuments, additional tabs on the website and electronic versions of the publications.

The TogetherNow project will reach domestic and foreign tourists but also residents of the Lublin Voivodeship and Lviv Oblast due to their close location, which positively influence the Łęczycki Poviat and Mykolaiv Region. Visitors to these manors, palaces, fortifications, war cemeteries and graves of insurgents will learn about the interesting and turbulent history of these areas. The experiences and ideas gathered during the implementation will result in further cooperation for cultural, social, and economic development. The project partners commonly assume that historical tourism may become one of the leading sectors of their economy and a source of income for the residents of this border area.
